Some solo piano works which fit in a mysterious container, that could not be described as a box. Diverse sources of inspiration including, Egyptian Baladi music, Eric Satie, contemporary circus and the philosophy and art of Wassily Kandinsky.

The works entitled Kandinsky 1 and 2 follow the form of Egyptian Baladi music, they have both improvised and composed sections which are designed to be cued by a dancer, as conductor. They were first composed while working with internationally acclaimed contemporary Egyptian dance artist Suraya Hilal. The two short pieces are snippets of a longer work which were written with the following brief from Suraya Hilal, “We need something modern, like Kandinsky”. The piece was later developed further with dancer Sarah Hamilton and performed at the Australian National Gallery theatre. The track slow mo was composed while working with Wollongong based Circus WOW and Cheeky Tzatziki. From slow motion to somewhat manic - it maps the dynamic of a contemporary clown.

Marianthe Loucataris is a musician, composer and sound designer whose work is culturally and genre diverse. It draws from her experience in classical piano, study with Internationally recognised Egyptian drum Master Ibrahim el Minyawi, and her work in the alternative pop rock scene. She studied Classical piano from early childhood, formed her first garage band at 13, played her first gigs at the ANU bar (with the likes of the Plunderers) at 15, well before she was legally allowed in a bar. She worked with Indie rock/pop outfit machine translations, 1998- 2001, including touring with the Dirty Three in the States 2001. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machine_Translations). She has composed music and created sound design for collaborative cross art form projects including with; glass artist Ruth Allen, sculptor Anita Larkin, physical theatre company, Company Theatre Physical and intercultural dance theatre practitioner, Annalouise Paul.

Marianthe is currently based near Denmark,WA. She is developing a new song album and new instrumental works with a technology bent.
